One of my favorite things about Hilton Head Island is the small town feel.  Throughout the Spring and Fall, we have a bevy of wonderful festivals to attend.  Yesterday, traditionally held each year on the Saturday after Mother's Day, is the Kiwanis Rib Burn.

Local restaurants and some independents enter to provide samples of their best ribs and pulled pork.  A ticket gets you in with a chance to sample 7 plates from different vendors...and you can even get more if you want :)

Bring a blanket, sit under the moss draped oak trees, and enjoy some barbeque while you listen to a local band pluck out some great tunes.  I bring the whole family, kids and all, and we take turns going up to get a plate to try.

At the end, don't forget to visit the voting booth!  That's right...all attendees have a chance to vote on their favorite and the winners are announced the next day.

It's a finger licking, memory making good day for everyone.  Visit with neighbors, see friends you haven't seen in a while, and enjoy some of the best barbeque in the world.  YUM!
