Maybe you're an Auberge fanatic, maybe Garden and Gun magazine is all you care to read, or perhaps the Gold List ranking from Conde Nast under "Best Resorts in the World" sucked you in for your first visit.  Either way, once you are on property...nothing else in your life exists except for this place.

I was at Palmetto Bluff this morning.  I'm not sure which part is more unfair to my friends and family up in Michigan, the fact that I live on Hilton Head Island...or that places like Palmetto Bluff not only are real, but are a quick 20 minutes from my house.

Set on over 20,000 acres and nestled along 32 miles of shoreline on the May River, this place defies an accurate description with words.  Winding roads canopied with moss draped oak trees, gas lit lamps, the small chapel that overlooks the water, the Inn at Palmetto Bluff with its luxury cottages along the river, a boat dock and storage, a top notch Auberge spa complete with claw foot tubs on the covered porch overlooking the gardens, a place to hunt, a state of the art equestrian center....and so on.  The homes, EVERY home, is straight out of Southern Living.

It's truly not so much the amenities at Palmetto Bluff that elude words..it's the absolute feast for the senses that this place provokes.   It's the feeling of floating into another world, one that you've glimpsed a time or two in a dream.  There is nothing hurried about this place.  It's luxury, plain and simple.  It's life, in more ways than you even realized you were capable of.  Let everything else go and come to this place.
